Vietnam’s National Assembly has dealt prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung a blow in its first ever confidence vote.

A third of the lawmakers voiced their disatisfaction with his handling of the Vietnamese economy and also a string of corruption scandals.

The confidence vote, which will become an annual event, aims to deflect growing public anger at the communist regime.
