Ho Thi Bich Khuong is one of Vietnam’s foremost advocates for farmers victimized by government land grabs. She has written extensively about their plight and published detailed accounts online. She was previously arrested in April 2007 and detained for two years for “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the state.” She is a recipient of Human Rights Watch’s Hellman/Hammett award.
