As Vietnamese authorities intensify their efforts to silence critical voices beyond the country’s borders, the European Parliament hosted a conference dedicated to transnational repression carried out by the Hanoi regime.

For years, the Vietnamese authorities have attempted to suppress Viet Tan’s online presence through fraudulent reports of “community standards” violations and by targeting individual posts.
In a letter dated November 21, 2025, 18 Members of the European Parliament from various political groups called on the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to pressure Vietnam to respect human rights. The MEPs also asked her to urge Vietnam to allow the establishment of independent trade unions.
