A snapshot of the ongoing crackdown on freedom of expression in Vietnam in 2017. 25 bloggers, human rights defenders and community organisers have been arrested, issued arrest warrants and exiled since the beginning of the year.
Two members of Viet Tan, Nguyen Duc Thuan and Tran Hiep, have been missing in Cambodia since September 18, 2026. To date, their families and colleagues have received no information about their whereabouts.
