Dear Mr le,

Supporting Human Rights in Vietnam I write to offer my support at your rally commemorating International Human Rights Day.

Unfortunately there are continuing reports of Human Rights abuses in Vietnam. The arrest of prominent pro democracy supporters Nguyen Van Ly, Nguyen Van Dai and Ms Le Thi Cong Nhan are some of the notabie examples of abuses against Human Rights and the Pro Democracy Movement.

Human rights are a basic freedom which everyone is entitled to and in government I will continue to pressure the Vietnamese regime to recognise these rights and encourage democracy.

Yours Faithfully,

Chris Bowen MP
Federal Member for Prospect
Assistant Treasurer
Minister for Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs
