Shadow Assistant Treasurer Shadow Minister for Superannuation & Corporate Governance

9 May 2008

Hon Stephen Smith Minister for Foreign Affairs Parliament House CANBERRA ACT 2600

Dear Stephen,

Supporters of Vietnam Reform Party (Viet Tan)

Enclosed is a copy of a letter I have sent to the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Hon Nguyen Tan Dung, concerning Dr Nguyen Quoc Quan (American citizen), Mr Somsak Khunmi (Thai citizen) and Mr Nguyen The Vu (Vietnamese citizen), who are being tried in Vietnam on 13 May 2008.

My letter is self explanatory but I would urge that you, on behalf of the Government, make representations to your Vietnamese counterparts to ensure that these people are dealt with in a fair and impartial manner.

I look forward to your response in this regard.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Keenan MP
